Thought I should update. I don't think anyone reads this, but thats ok. I am now in Philadelphia. So far I love it. I am sure that will change when the weather gets cold. I think I have missed the busyness.
I enjoyed church a lot. Talked about the feeding of the 5,000. One of the deacons preached [something I think all churches should let the deacons do]. He talked about Jesus taking lunch from the boy. Haha instead of just, creating all that food for all those people [which He could have easily have done] he used the boys food. I don't know if Jesus just, took it, or asked the boy, but either way, He was including him. They boy was now a part of the story of Jesus instead of an onlooker. He could have gone on his way and could have eaten his biscuits and fish and could have marveled at what Jesus was doing, feeding all those people who did not have lunch, but instead he because an important element in Jesus' miracle. Can you imagine the boy going home, seeing his friends and saying 'Guess what! This guy, took MY lunch and used it to feed 5,000 men plus their families. I was RIGHT THERE and saw Him do it!' He did not say, "I was at this thing and this guy fed everyone there"
I have been reading "A million miles in a thousand years"- by Donald Miller which is all about story. It is important to be a part of the story, not just watch or marvel at someone else's story.
If you aren't doing anything of worth right now, go out and make your own story. I don't know how, we are all different but the little boy in John 6, was just willing to follow Jesus to see what He was going to do next. Sometimes we just have to be willing to listen. And when we do, Jesus will ask us to do something seemingly mundane and selfless like giving up our lunch, and He will use that to effect thousands. Or He might ask you to do something hard and it will only effect one person. Either way, we are part of God's story, not just watching from the sidelines.
