boom boom pow

Well happy 4th of July! America has a wonderful history, and my fav part of this holiday is all of the history channel specials on how our country came to be.

This year I worked alllll day but my boss was super cool. We 'worked' helped customers when we needed it and that was it! We played racing games on his ipod touch and he bought us ice cream. I brought my cupcakes and it was great. Then cindy came over and we got pizza with my mom then we headed to the bridge to watch the fireworks.

They were sooo far away and sucked sooo bad. But oh well. Last year I went to steve and merrilyns roof and we didn't see any! [but I of course had fun!] Next to us were these annoying little kids who kept saing 1, 2, 3 happy 4th of july!!! over and over HA and it got me thinking about the 4th when I was a kid....

There were two places we would go. July 3rd of course was the huge display at the Danbury Fair Mall. The mall is on a swamp haha and it is sinking. They set the fireworks off from the parking lot. Every year we would go to an area around the mall.. kind of like sitting nosebleed at a baseball stadium... so the fireworks were eye level. One of my parents friends would get there ridiculously early, like.. 2 in the afternoon with their little grill and camp out gear.. and they would park obnoxiously terrible so when we got there, they could straighten out and we had a spot. Then we would get our blankets out and set up. I ALWAYS had those neon glowing necklaces. My sister and I would always bring cards and play our never ending game of spit. Watching the fireworks were amazing. Again they were professional, and eye level. They had tremendous displays that lasted hours. [well, maybe 2 hours, it seems like it was the whole night as a child] It was so loud you could feel it in your bone marrow. All of your insides would shake and rattle inside of you, and I was scared to eat from the ice cream truck, because it might make me sick with all the vibrations. When I was small, my mom would wrap me up in a blanket, so I could put it over my ears and just lay in her lap looking up at the colorful bursts. I really have never seen anything like it, and I once celebrated at disney who has an AMAZING display, and yankee stadium which just gets all smoky.

[the other place we went was a friends mansion on candelwood lake where we would watch the display from the boats of the balconies.]

I guess this year, I really missed my friends. I miss the way things used to be. I should have been with a bunch of friends, grilling out on the beach, setting off my own fireworks. Where is my kt elliott? Where is my jenna? My casian? It is just so different down here.

Eventually on 3 we all started saying happy 4th of july! with the annoying kids hopped up on juice trying to count the fireworks. It was out of control. Lucky for us, they didnt know what came after 89 =]

My 4th could have been better. But you know, It could have been much much much worse and I am glad I got to spend it with my mom, and I am glad cindy did not have to spend it alone. I am glad I live in America, it helped make me who I am today.

Well, after working 6 days, I got two days off, then I worked today, and then tomorrow and monday is my weekend and then 6 more days in a row. Goodness gracious.
Praise God I have a job and praise God I have been getting good hours!!!
